About me

Quynh Vora

Hello and thank you for stopping by! My name is Quynh (pronounced “Quinn” as in Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman) but you can simply call me “Q”. I currently live in Houston with my husband and baby boy. My love for interior design started in college. I remembered entering a dark, dingy dorm room and feeling very homesick. My roommate and I took a bus to a local store and bought a rug to cover up our outdated floor. On the way home, we found a couch on the side of the road and lugged it back with us. I took a bed sheet and made it into a slipcover for the couch. We filled the room with candles, pictures and warm quilts to give us a sentiment of our home away from home.

Since then, I have been scouring design books, studying styles of famous designers, and learning the ins and outs of interior design. My first real design experience started in 2008 when my husband bought a rundown house and we demolished it completely to build from the ground up. We learned how to work with architects and builders to put together a layout that really flows for our growing family. It was then that I began to develop a style that marries functionality and aesthetics together. I was designing a home not just for myself but also for my husband, our baby, and our large extended families who frequently visits us.

My style is both modern and classic, with a relaxed feel. I truly believe that no matter where you are living and how temporary your living situation may be, filling a room with the things you love will give you an instant place of refuge. Not only that but you don’t have to have a huge budget to do so (and definitely don’t need to throw out all of your old furniture).
